Menstruation comes back every month, and unfortunately for most menstruating women it is not alone: cramps, digestive problems, back pain and breast tenderness are just a few of the complaints that often accompany it.
We have put together some tips for you to help with period pains.
Movement, movement, movement
The most common symptom is probably abdominal pain, which is caused by increased or altered muscle tension in the body. This is because during menstruation, the uterus sheds the mucous membrane that it no longer needs because the egg has not been fertilized. This causes the uterine muscles to contract. In order to relieve the pain, this tension must be released. You can achieve this with gentle exercise, such as yoga, walking, running, cycling or whatever you feel like doing. Even if you sometimes don't feel like exercising, in most cases the effort is worth it!
Nutrition
You can also do a lot in terms of nutrition. Our hemp seeds naturally contain magnesium (contributes to normal nervous system function), iron (contributes to normal cognitive function) and vitamin E (helps protectcells from oxidative stress ).
So try to integrate them into your diet during your period, e.g. by adding hemp seeds to your muesli or drinking a hemp protein shake. Anti-inflammatory foods are also good, including turmeric, ginger, citrus fruits, broccoli and hemp oil, which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids.
CBD oil
When the pain becomes too severe, some people reach for a painkiller. CBD oil is a herbal alternative that does not affect the gastrointestinal tract. This is available over the counter, unlike the pill, which is occasionally prescribed by gynecologists for such complaints.
Fortunately, you don't just have to put up with the pain - there are a few things you can do. Feel free to write us a comment if you have another tip that has helped you in particular!
