CBD cure - research on the effect on sleep

Research on CBD is still in its infancy and scientific evidence on the effect of CBD on topics such as sleep or stress reduction is still scarce. HANS has therefore decided to contribute to this research.

Method
From mid-February to mid-April 2021, HANS is conducting a CBD treatment with 41 test subjects over a period of 8 weeks. First, the participants' initial status is recorded with regard to a number of health parameters - including sleep, stress, anxiety and well-being. During the 8-week period, the participants take an increasing dose of CBD and share their experiences with HANS using a weekly questionnaire. Two thirds of the participants were female (29) and one third male (12). Almost 70 % of the participants (28) are between 21 and 30 years old, 5 participants are between 31 and 40 years old and 8 people are over 50 years old. 25 % (11) of the participants are students and almost 50 % (19) are employed for more than 30 hours a week. 19 people took part with the 10 % CBD oil and 11 people each with the 5 % and 15 % CBD oil.

Results
HANS examines the sleep behavior of the participants. For this purpose, the participants were asked about their satisfaction with the quality of falling asleep, the quality of sleeping through the night and the overall quality of sleep. Before starting the CBD cure, 36% of participants rated their quality of sleep as very satisfied or satisfied. In week 8, however, 74% rated their quality of sleep as very satisfied or satisfied. In addition, 22% of the test subjects rated their quality of sleep through the night as very satisfied or satisfied before the start of the cure, while in week 8 almost 81% rated it as very satisfied or satisfied. In the initial situation, 10% of participants also rated their overall sleep quality as very satisfied or satisfied and 55% of participants rated their sleep quality as very dissatisfied, dissatisfied or rather dissatisfied. In week 8, on the other hand, 71% rated their sleep quality as very satisfactory or satisfactory and only 7.5% of participants rated it as very unsatisfactory, unsatisfactory or somewhat unsatisfactory.

Discussion

In terms of satisfaction with the quality of falling asleep, staying asleep and overall sleep quality, a positive trend can be observed throughout the weeks. The increase in positive results over time suggests that the body first has to get used to taking CBD before an adequate effect can be observed. However, increasing the dose week by week until the optimal individual intake level is found probably also plays a role.

The following results on taking the cure were neither independently conducted nor was the study controlled. The results should only be seen as a guide for scientific research.
